Topic: In Hi5 beta versions groups are back, next to application in the main menu
Good news today from Hi5.

At least for who appreciated the environment of the communities of ancient Hi5 [ancient! a couple of years ago], the groups are back in the main page of the new lay out of the profile.

thats very good :)
we have to wait for next step, when they put it back to the header menu.

It was almost impossible to find the groups, if you was not loged into the system.

I think hi5 and other communitys must do much more, to got back people, people like to communicate, and today twitter is fast growing. (I dont use it yet.)

Twitter has got a great potentiality, it has got the limit of the little dimensions of the posts, but probably that characteristic gives a really particular rhythm to the social site. Hi5 needs to go back to the old managing of the groups, but it will be hard to see.

You know what could be useful for big groups? To categorize the topics. A groups could have up to 6/8 categories and members should be able to assign a category to their groups [about the possibility that moderators and owner could move them from a category to an other ... I have to reason a bit more]. They would be like "sub-groups". A Window in the main page could show the newest topics of all the categories.

I saw facebook, think it was them anyway, Introducing some twitter funktions, I have not got the point with fast messageing, its like online global instant messenger, maybe cool, dont know..

The problem with all data today, is to categorize them, just look in your own computer.. or mine :P
And yes, to implement better tools is not the hard bit,
the problem is the owners, as i have understand it,
Guess the communication channel between members, staff and the owners is not as it should to be.

I like to have sticky topics.
Yo our Idea is to make the 'group' to a 'forum'.
Agree, It would be just perfect :)

Hi5 misses some tools to do that, but if they want to find a different way not to be a little copy of one of the giants [Facebook, MySpace ...], they have to think to something.

Twitter is gaining success because it's an instant forum for total communication. What are they talking about? This is the question which explains the attitude of the common users of Twitter. It's a very clear "personality", different and original, light and efficient.

I don't think that sub-categories in groups will be effective. It'll make the whole thing more complicated. Every group is considered to be thematic and dividing each of them into small parts will be more confusing, in my opinion.

it is good that we collect is fragmented groups into one location, and it becomes more alive and more visited.

the bad is as you say, changes make people confused .

True, think that as soon I joined Hi5 groups hadn't topics ... they were a big single topic.

When topics came we were really confused. No one was able to follow the discussions in progress ...
